Our purpose is to write sermon-based curriculum, devotionals and other church writing and editing assignments as needed for the enrichment of the Concord Church, its Growth Groups and communities.
Concord Church Has Impacted #MyStory
Concord Church has impacted #my story by encouraging me to be bold and share my testimony of trusting in God regardless of my circumstance. Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is the person in the bible who most reflects my life. Both of us were teen mothers, experienced unplanned pregnancies, and were young unwed moms. As a result of our pregnancies, we were talked about, ridiculed by society, misunderstood, and stereotyped with a mark of shame and embarrassment. When I reflect on my story, two words come to mind, BUT GOD. Ephesians 3:20 says God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Like Mary, regardless of how the conception occurred we both had to abide in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him by believing and knowing that He would direct our path.
Because I wanted so hard to deflect the negativity, name calling, and erase the perception that the world had of me and my child, I pressed toward the mark. Everything I did, I did it as unto the Lord. Like Mary, I was not sure of what God had in store for my future, but I knew that I could trust Him. I surrendered to God, prayed, and read His word. Just as Mary responded in obedience to God, I did the same. As a result, when I reflect on my life, #mystory is God has been good to me. Today, I am known as Doctor, mother, Mrs., and a servant. I am so grateful because God allowed me to graduate from high school on time, attend college, and earn three degrees. In addition, I have the privilege of teaching kids at school and church, and mentoring children and unwed mothers. At a time in my life when I thought I could not trace God’s hand, I now know I can always trust God’s heart. Today, my children are adults who know the Lord personally. God’s labor of love in my life has not been in vain.
Has God ever taken you through a storm and at the end you saw a rainbow signifying his promise for your life? While going through the storm you may experience thunder, lightning, rain, snow, and even some hail, BUT GOD will see you through. He provided for Mary, and He provided for me. He will do the same for you.
Father God, I thank you for #mystory and the Concord Church for making an impact on my life and the life of my family. I thank you that my detour was not a dead end but a scenic route that could be used to help someone else. Thank you for reassuring me daily that regardless of my circumstances you are a trustworthy God. Amen!
